Kate's Blog

Follow me if you will as I try to navigate through the ups and downs of my world.

I'm writing this blog to help me make sense of all that has happened - from my diagnosis with non-Hodgkins lymphoma while pregnant with my third child in May 2008
, through to my reflections on chaotic family life as I try to pick up the pieces of my life again.

The kids are so small, and I'm working hard to keep us all safe and to stay in remission.

Stay with me - it won't be all doom and gloom I promise!

End of Advent - the Woodburner Arrives

What a lovely squat, black and very hot woodburner is cooking in our kitchen now. The perfumed smell of the wood fills our house. I can't be long writing this because I have to go and re-re-readjust the draught regulator (technical term? I think not) to get the optimum flame on my wood. I think I may spend many hours burning wood and watching the flames. It's all too exciting - a new loft bedroom and a new woodburner. And it's Christmas.

Oh, I can feel the warmth of your new wood stove, and a little laziness, too...I wish. :)

I love the smell of wood-smoke in the winter... Not that we have such a stove, but I fancy several of our neighbours have. It's worth a wander on a cold and frosty evening.

I cannot think of a smell I'd rather have waft across my nose right now!

Absolutley delicious. I fancy I can smell it now. Although central heating is handy.

Oh! You make me miss my wood stove in our cabin on the lake (where we once lived). It was so cozy and bright and comforting. My husband misses chopping wood and I miss the warm glow and the radiating heat like no other. Enjoy!
